An even bigger task than establishing the Rainbow Repertory Co. in 1994, was establishing our first 'production arm' - CANTON CABARET, Musical Dinner Theatre in downtown Canton in 2007.

Our first year of productions brought audiences totaling over 1,500 and we received a Community Award from the Chamber of Commerce!  We were the youngest recipient ever....only 7 months old!  much of our success is due to the fact that we are the only dinner theatre with a dance floor!

Audience members are invited to dance during the productions....intimate musicals with only 'danceable' music!

Although we recently held auditions to add to our Cabaret Repertory Company of singers, dancers and musicians, very few were chosen because original members have chosen to stay on with us!  Not only that, but they have taken on more of the production and directing roles!

MORE GOOD NEWS....

In 2004, Rainbow personnel engaged several leaders from Canton's current African-American community to gather the stories, not only from today, but from past generations, to tell their history.  All agreed that these stories needed to be  written down to inspire and instruct Canton's future African-American leaders still in school!

AuthorHouse, the world's leading self-publishing company, will help the Rainbow Repertory Co. realize its dream ot publishing  this book. "We are pleased to help with this very important project," said Terry Dwyer, AuthorHouse's VP of Sales. "It gives the opportunity for them to put their voices into print and impact their community."

Rainbow is one of three grant recipients chosen by their Authors Across America program.  AuthorHouse has served the publishing needs of nearly 30,000 authors and produced nearly 40,000 titles. Visit www.authorsacrossamerica.com for more information.

"Our concurrent task with preparing the book for publishing is writing the curriculum for its school programs," states editor, Nadine McIlwaine-Massey.

!
..... my beliefs and one of my favorite poems.

I believe the arts are second only to food and shelter.

I believe the arts tell us who we are and how we are to live.

I believe that our artistic life begins at our birth…

the cast, ourselves and all whom we meet…
the drama, each moment we live…
the script, all we say and hear…
the art, all that we do!

What if life could be lived,
The way a play is created?
To learn and work and laugh,
To become friends and to create.

Together,
Each helps all,
And all become one ... play.

What if life would be lived
The way a play is born?
Ahhh, the applause would be so sweet.
